People shouldn't eat certain mixed nuts because they may be contaminated with salmonella, federal food officials say.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said Golden Boy brand Inshell Mixed Nuts were sold nationally in 1.36-kilogram mesh bags with UPC 0 64684 10948 0 on the label.
The packer, based in Burnaby, B.C., is voluntarily recalling the product from the marketplace and the agency said it's monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled.
In young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems, salmonellosis may cause serious and sometimes deadly infections.
