People with autism are getting help in the job market from a Calgary-based company that looks to make the best of a condition that often makes it difficult to find work.

Some 85 per cent of Canadians with autism are unemployed.

But, Meticulon Consulting helps people with autism make the most of the intelligence, intense focus and attention to detail that are often the hallmarks of the condition, while helping them overcome the social challenges.

"In a job interview, if I ask you 'Tell me why I should hire you over the other candidates,' you would know I was asking you to sell yourself," said Meticulon CEO Garth Johnson.

"Some of our people would respond by saying 'That's not a fair question — I don't know the other candidates. How can I possibly answer that question?"
