Ebola safety how-to lessons offered to Canadian hospital workers

Written By Unknown on Kamis, 16 Oktober 2014 | 22.45

Health-care workers at Canadian hospitals receive training on the precautions to take when treating patients potentially infected with the Ebola virus.

Health officials have stressed that a key step is to ask people about their travel history. But then what?

Watch CBC's Kas Roussy get a demonstration at Toronto East General Hospital of:

  • How to put on and take off personal protective equipment, such as gowns, face masks and gloves, in a careful manner. The steps to remove contaminated equipment without infecting yourself are painstaking.
  • An isolation unit where suspected Ebola patients are taken.
  • How the personal protective gear is disposed of once used.

Several other Canadian hospitals are offering their staff similar training.
